Restoring After a Failed Migration
-
Stop making changes:
-
Don’t keep migrating while data is inconsistent.
-
-
Decide your rollback target:
-
The last known good backup date (pre-migration).
-
-
Confirm DNS status:
-
Determine whether the domain is pointing to the new host or the old host.
-
-
Take a safety backup of the current state (recommended):
-
Files + database export.
-
-
Request a restore:
-
Open a Technical Support ticket.
-
Provide restore date, service name, and explain migration steps taken.
-
-
After restore:
-
Validate site/admin functionality.
-
Recheck DNS settings and wait for propagation if changes were made.
-
-
Only retry migration with a plan:
-
Do it in a staging environment if possible.
-
Migrate in small steps and validate at each step.
